Wrap up ROADSHOW's first-ever visit to Alaska, with finds that include an Alaska belt buckle, ca. 1975, an Elvis Presley King Creole movie poster, and Stephen Decatur warrant and commissions from 1798 - 1804. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW is in The Big Apple for the first time in 13 years, where host Mark L. Walberg heads to an iconic venue, the Apollo Theater, for a ROADSHOW "Most Wanted" segment. Highlights include a Tiffany Studios mosaic inkwell, ca. 1905, likely designed by Carol Driscoll; a show run from the Beatles' first "Ed Sullivan Show" appearance along with an autographed photograph of the band; and a Joseph Kleitsch oil painting, ca.1925, purchased by the owner's father from Kleitsch's widow for $100 and now valued at $500,000. On October 10, 1871, Chicagoans awoke to an unrecognizable landscape. Forty-eight hours earlier, there had been a vibrant city of ornate civic buildings, grand hotels, and cultural institutions. Tuesday, January 23rd

Henry Louis Gates, Jr. helps singer Sammy Hagar and actor Ed O'Neill uncover their roots, revealing secrets their ancestors went to great lengths to conceal and celebrating the virtue of accepting one's relatives, whoever they may be. Finding Your Roots Buried Secrets at 7:00 pm.
In February 1939, more than twenty thousand Americans filled Madison Square Garden for an event billed as a "Pro-American Rally." As images of George Washington hung next to swastikas, a series of speakers railed against the "Jewish controlled media" and called for a return to a racially "pure" America. The keynote speaker, a man named Fritz Kuhn, was the head of an organization known as the German American Bund. The rally was huge, demanding the largest police presence to date for any event in New York City history but it was the culmination of a movement that had been brewing for years. Nazi Town USA will tell the largely unknown story of this organization that had chapters across the country and represented what experts believe was a "very real threat of fascist subversion in the United States." Organized into 70 different districts, the Bund held joint rallies with the Ku Klux Klan and ran dozens of summer camps for children centered around Nazi ideology and imagery. Life in some of the largest camps - including Camp Siegfried in Long Island, Camp Hindenburg in Wisconsin, and Camp Nordland in New Jersey -will be brought to life through extensive archival footage, photographs, and ruins that exist to this day. The Bund's embrace of "Americanism" raises thorny issues - from questions of free speech to declarations of "America First" - that we continue to wrestle with to this day. World War II brought renewed energy and purpose to Route 66 as the country suddenly needed to transport people, arms and ammunition from one coast to the other. Hospitality work was viewed as a natural extension of the domestic sphere, and on Route 66 many women worked in family businesses providing food and lodging. The war allowed women to move out of low paying jobs and perform patriotic duties that were highly skilled and dangerous, such as sorting ammunition. After the war, these women would create vibrant businesses on their own. From the CEO of an iconic Route 66 restaurant in Gallup, NM to Navajo women at the Ordnance Depot in Flagstaff, AZ these women rejected domesticity in favor of a career. Wednesday, January 24th

Thursday, January 25th

Bryan Cranston is a highly acclaimed actor best known for playing Walter White on AMC's Breaking Bad. He won back-to-back Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for that role. Before winning he'd been nominated for three Emmys and two Golden Globes. Recent film credits include Trumbo, Argo, and the new HBO film All the Way, in which he plays President Lyndon Johnson. Cranston played Johnson in All the Way on Broadway.
