Posted on May 1, 2025

This month, we’re taking notes from Lyla in the Loop! The show is a funny and engaging animated series for kids ages 4-8 that follows Lyla, a dynamic 7-year-old girl who lives in a big city with her close-knit family, fantastical blue sidekick Stu, and a host of relatable and quirky characters in her community. With her pals, Lyla uses creative and strategic problem solving and critical thinking skills to address a range of everyday problems together.

Problem solving can seem like a challenging topic for parents to help kids with, but we have some great tips for small ways to get young ones thinking critically at home. Whether you need help expanding a child’s imagination or breaking down bigger problems into step-by-step solutions, this article has tons of parent-approved tips and tricks to help your kids out.

While we’re on the topic of creative thinking, try this fun activity as a family! A handprint may seem a little boring at first, but with a pinch of imagination, it can become a bird or a jellyfish. With just a few materials you probably already have, you and your child can create a fun new creature together!
