Henry Louis Gates uncovers the lost roots of actors Billy Crudup and Tamera Mowry-Housley, traveling back generations to recount significant events in history - from the American Revolution to the journey of the Mayflower - in a deeply personal way. Finding Your Roots Out of the Past at 7:00 pm.

For nearly 50 years, chemical engineer and inventor Maria Telkes applied her prodigious intellect to harnessing the power of the sun. She designed and built the world's first successfully solar-heated modern residence and identified a promising new chemical that, for the first time, could store solar heat like a battery. And yet, along the way, she was undercut and thwarted by her boss and colleagues - all men - at MIT. Despite these obstacles, Telkes persevered and, upon her death in 1995, held more than 20 patents. She is now recognized as a visionary pioneer in the field of sustainable energy. The Muslim presence in Spain over several centuries made many of its castles quite unique in many ways. Several Spanish monarchs took advantage of the architectural knowledge of the Arabs who settled on the peninsula to build impregnable defensive jewels. Since the Middle Ages, over 20,000 castles have been built in Spain, where palace intrigues, military crusades, love dramas and family successions became legend. Portugal's castles are closely related to the Order of the Temple and to the creation of Portugal as an independent territory from the Muslim and Spanish kingdoms.
